Did you know that Caroline County, Maryland, boasts 78 miles of unpaved roads? C3's Scratch N Denton Gravel Grinder takes in up to 23.7 miles of glorious gravel and hardpack farm tracks over its full 53.9-mile course. There are up to thirteen separate gravel segments in all to explore! The Scratch N Denton™ Gravel Grinder starts and finishes at the beautiful, brand new Eden Town Brewing Co. in Denton, Maryland. At the finish, the first beer is on us! and so is a gourmet lunch from the Caroline's at Eden Town food truck! So, bring your friends, bring your grit, and bring your thirst. Let’s ride gravel and toast the dust afterward. See you in Denton!

Rest Stop:
Scratch N Denton includes one rest stop along the route, at the 27.2 milepoint (Mid and Full Routes only.)
This rest stop is located at the Taber State Forest access road off of Parker Road.
Rest Stop will be open from 8:30AM until 12:00PM

C3 Scratch N Denton™ Ride Notes & Policies:

All riders must have a signed C3 Waiver of Liability on file prior to participate.

This event is rain or shine (no rain date). Please check the forecast in advance and dress appropriately. A change of clothes for after the ride is strongly encouraged.

Headlights and taillights are strongly recommended.

This is NOT a closed course. All riders must obey traffic signs and controls at all times. Exercise heightened caution at intersections and during turns.

Please note that some roads along the route do not have shoulders. Ride safely and consistently toward the right margin of the roadway.

Rider Preparation:
-
This is a self-supported event. Scratch N Denton athletes are fully responsible for themselves for the duration of the ride.
-
Participants should ride a gravel, cyclocross (CX), or all-road bicycle in good mechanical condition. Tires 32mm or wider are recommended.
-
Road surface is a split between Category 1 and Category 2 Gravel, and smooth tarmac.
-
The official route must be loaded onto your GPS device prior to the start. Riders should be prepared to navigate independently if necessary.
All Riders Are Expected To:
-
Have the tools and knowledge required to repair a flat tire.
-
Carry a smartphone in order to contact an emergency support person if a ride abandonment or pickup becomes necessary.
Mandatory Supplies:
Each rider must carefully consider and carry the following:

Helmet

Navigation system

Cell phone
-
Hydration system (bottles and/or pack sufficient for 50 miles; minimum 2 liters recommended)

Nutrition (bars, gels, sports drink — sufficient to fuel you between planned feed stops)
Strongly Recommended Equipment:
For your safety and preparedness, the following items are strongly advised:

Two spare inner tubes (even if running tubeless tires)

Tire repair plugs

Tube patch kit
-
Tire repair boots or Gorilla tape

Tire inflation system (COâ‚‚ inflator for speed plus a hand pump for reliability)

Tire levers

Bicycle multi-tool (including all necessary Allen wrenches, chain tool, and spoke wrench)
